Correctly use Clapboard

Clapboard is also known as a clapstick, sound stick or film slate Board. I have been on two tv shot recently for the national, professional productions where the crew not to use clapboard correctly.

There are many types of clapboards. Some are made of Whiteboard material, some has been wipe boards and some are digital. IPad has an clapboard app, which I do not think much. Most boards have a place where you can type in information about the production or take. It is common to see spaces that allow the user to add the name of the project, take the number, the scene name and some crew names. I especially digital ones, which makes it possible to jam synchronizing timecode to each camera.

By far, is the main role to allow clapboard footage from each camera on a multi camera shoot to be easily synced up on the Edit room. The loud "clap" sound made when the stick Tornado outbreak against the Management Board shall establish a visual waveform on the line audio editing system. This allows the editor to easily line up all the footage to save both time and money. For this to really work, all KAMERÆR at sliding clapboard when it makes the "lyn" sound. If you find yourself without an clapboard, you can just clap your hands together, or slap a Clipboard loudly. As long as it makes a loud sharp noise and all kamerærne rolling on it at the same time, it will work. If you must "shale" shot, in other words, do you share written information on board clip, you can verbally tell whatever information must agree to take.

One common error just shows one camera in clapboard. Although each camera can hear sound "lyn", can see Visual of the stick hit by the Executive Board on each piece of footage really speed things up in the Edit. Another error clapping Board for each camera individually. I'm not sure what is supposed to perform. I would if the clapboard have digital time code, it could help line up shots with a little trial and error, but you still want to miss, synchronized "clap." Either way, you end up frustrating your editor more than anything else. A frustrated editor are not creative and also not much fun.

A word about iPad clapboard app. it works very well for two reasons. One, in order to make the clap sound, you have to push a small button. Thus the cover you up screen, iPad, which takes away your visual. Two, lyn is not so high. Sometimes there may be too much technology. An old-fashioned hand-clap works much better.

In some cases, when kamerærne is in leading position, is they don't see clapboard at the same time. One camera, for example, can shoot an arrival from outside a House and one from inside the House. In that case, collect cameras start rolling and "clap" clapboard. Then Move back into position, while kamerærne is still rolling. When all else fails, do the best you can.
